What is Water Kefir?
Water kefir is a delicious homemade and healthy fermented soft drink. Making water kefir yourself is amazingly simple, refreshingly fizzy, incredibly tasty, and very satisfying. Kefir is derived from the Turkish word ‘keyif’, which expresses a feeling of pleasure. The special thing about our kefir grains is that they keep growing, giving you an endless supply.
The water kefir starter kit consists of the kefir jar, our starter, water, sugar, and flavorings of your choice. These are often (citrus) fruits, dried or fresh, but the variations are endless. Fruit juices, herbs, spices, ginger – you name it. Unlike milk kefir or kombucha, the taste produced by the microorganisms themselves is fairly neutral. The bubbles are the main feature. It’s essentially a great way to turn your regular homemade lemonade into sparkling lemonade in just a few days. The DIY champagnes contain about half a percent alcohol. This is the foundation of the water kefir starter kit.
Our Ingenious and Complete Kefirko Kefir Jar
The included kefir jar is ingeniously designed. By turning the transparent lid, you can increase and decrease air flow. The strainer lid underneath can be rotated for fine or coarse straining. The jar also comes with a citrus juicer, a handy scoop/stirring rod, and a scraper for mixing the kefir grains during transfer, making it easy to separate them from the kefir. The kefir jar can also be used to sprout vegetables or make kombucha, vinegar, or ginger beer
