All terms refer to the offer, acceptance, and consideration of payment necessary to undertake the process of our assistance to the Client in the most appropriate manner, whether by formal meetings of a fixed duration, online courses, or any other means, for the express purpose of meeting the Client’s needs in respect of the provision of the Company’s stated services/products, in accordance with and subject to prevailing law of The Netherlands. Any use of the above terminology or other words in the singular, plural, capitalization and/or he/she or they, are taken as interchangeable and therefore as referring to the same.

Intended use and audience (home/educational use)

  1. Our starter cultures and related products are supplied in consumer quantities and intended for home fermentation and educational use by hobbyists.

  2. Unless explicitly stated on a product page, these products are not positioned or sold as approved ingredients for commercial food production in the European Union.

Regulatory responsibility and novel foods

  1. We label and market our products for home use and keep our own records as required by law.

  2. If you intend to place a finished food on the EU market, you (as the food business operator) are responsible for ensuring that product’s regulatory compliance, including—where applicable—any Novel Food assessment/authorisation or other approvals.

Traceability and cooperation with authorities

  1. We maintain supplier, batch and sales records for traceability.

  2. If requested by a competent authority, we will cooperate and provide relevant traceability information.

Product withdrawal or suspension

We may suspend or withdraw a product from sale (for example, pending documentation review) at our discretion. In such cases, our liability is limited to refunding undelivered orders and, where applicable, processing returns in accordance with consumer law and our returns policy. Nothing in this clause limits your statutory rights.

Online courses by Fermentation Fundamentals

In addition to the above terms and conditions, online courses are subject to the following terms:

  • Fermentation Fundamentals offers a 30-day money-back guarantee for all its online courses.

  • If you are not satisfied with the course, you can request a full refund within 30 days of purchase.

  • Refunds will be issued within 30 days of the request.

  • To request a refund, please contact us at info@startercultures.eu with your name and order number.

  • Fermentation Fundamentals reserves the right to refuse a refund if we believe that the refund policy is being abused.

  • Course completion: Students must complete all course requirements, including assignments and assessments, to receive a certificate of completion. Certificates will be issued within 14 days of course completion.

  • Academic integrity: Students must maintain academic integrity throughout the course. Any form of cheating, plagiarism, or academic dishonesty will result in immediate termination of course access without a refund.

  • Course changes: The course provider reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the course at any time without notice.

Hyperlinking to our content

The following organizations may link to our websites without prior written approval:

Health claims

As per the European laws and regulations, we refrain from making any claims regarding the health benefits of our products, and therefore do not mention any such claims on our website. Using starter cultures (home fermentation)

Using microbial starter cultures requires safe handling and careful food preparation. You are responsible for following safe domestic food-handling practices and any local rules that may apply to your use. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted by law. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for losses arising from improper use, failure to follow instructions, or uses outside the intended home/educational context described above. This clause does not affect your statutory consumer rights.

Consumer sales; company name fields and VAT

All orders are processed as consumer sales. A company name field at checkout is provided only for delivery identification and does not change the nature of the sale. We do not support EU B2B reverse-charge VAT on this website.

Content liability

We shall have no responsibility or liability for any content appearing on your website. You agree to indemnify and defend us against all claims arising out of or based upon your website.
