Acidity plays an important role in many forms of fermentation. The lower the pH, the more acidic your product and the more acidic your product, the safer your product. This can be tested with a pH tester. However, to keep your pH tester in optimum condition, the electrode should be kept moist, but not with water but with this special electrode storage solution.
Electrode storage solution for pH meter storage
pH (as well as Oxide Reduction Potential (ORP)-) electrodes should never be stored in distilled or deionized water as it will shorten the life of the sensor. Use this special storage solution, prepared with reagent-grade chemicals that can be used to ensure the maximum performance of your pH electrodes.
Between measurements, this storage solution minimizes microbial growth and prevents any effects of diffusion and osmosis, as well as keeping the sensor tip and reference junction hydrated and clear. It also helps to maintain the accuracy and sensitivity of the electrode.

Instructions
Keep the electrode of your pH tester moist by either submerging the tip in the electrode storage solution, or by soaking foam, cloth or cotton wool in the solution.
