Product Description

Create beautiful homemade butter with this traditional wooden butter mold, crafted from natural maple wood. Perfect for shaping fresh cultured butter into elegant farmhouse-style blocks with a classic artisan appearance.

Making butter at home is one of the most satisfying traditional kitchen crafts. By culturing cream with a butter starter culture before churning, you create rich European-style butter with a deep aroma and creamy texture that is difficult to find in supermarkets. Combine this butter mold with our butter starter culture and traditional butter churner for the full homemade butter experience.

Each mold is made from maple wood, a natural material with its own grain and character. Small differences in color, structure, and texture are part of the charm of authentic wooden kitchen tools.

About this wooden butter mold

This traditional butter mold is made from natural maple wood and designed for shaping homemade butter into decorative artisan portions.

The mold can be used for cultured butter, salted butter, unsalted butter, and farmhouse-style butter made at home.

Specifications

  • Material: maple wood (Ahorn)
  • Dimensions: 14 x 7.6 x 5 cm
  • Weight: approximately 125 grams
  • Natural wood product
  • Made in Germany

Before first use

  • Lightly rub the dry mold with food-safe mineral oil, cutting board oil, or beeswax wood conditioner
  • Allow the oil to absorb briefly
  • Polish away excess oil thoroughly
  • Avoid olive oil or sunflower oil for maintenance, as these may become sticky or rancid over time

Preparing the mold before use

  • Rinse the mold with ice-cold water before use
  • Alternatively soak briefly in cold water for approximately 10–30 minutes
  • Very detailed molds may benefit from lightly salted water
  • Do not soak excessively u

The ideal butter consistency

  • Use butter that is cold but still moldable, butter should not be rock hard or greasy soft
  • Refrigerated butter that rested outside the fridge for 10–20 minutes usually works perfectly

How to use the butter mold

  1. Press small pieces of butter firmly into the detailed relief first. This helps prevent air pockets in the design
  2. Fill the remaining space completely and press firmly
  3. Smooth the backside using a knife or palette knife
  4. Place the filled mold in the refrigerator for 15–30 minutes or briefly in the freezer for 5–10 minutes
  5. Turn the mold over and gently tap the sides or back to release the butter

If the butter does not release easily

  • Wait one minute and try again
  • Warm the outside of the mold very briefly with your hands
  • Do not pry into the relief with a knife, as this may damage both the butter and the wood carving

Cleaning & maintenance

  • Wash by hand only using warm water
  • If needed, use a very small amount of mild dish soap
  • Use a soft brush for detailed relief patterns
  • Dry immediately after washing, allow the mold to air dry completely upright
  • Do not leave soaking in water
  • Do not place in the dishwasher
  • Occasionally maintain with a neutral food-safe wood oil

Traditional butter making at home

Homemade cultured butter has a depth of flavor that is difficult to find in supermarket butter. Slow fermentation develops rich buttery aromas, creamy texture, and authentic farmhouse character.

Whether served on warm bread, used for pastries, or presented at the breakfast table, homemade butter shaped with a traditional wooden mold brings artisan dairy craftsmanship straight into your kitchen.
