Product Description
This complete starter kit combines our sourdough set with a dried sourdough starter of your choice. After a few days of feeding, the starter is ready to bake with, so you skip the one to two weeks it takes to grow one from scratch. Buying the two products as a kit costs 10% less than buying them separately. All you need to add is flour, water and salt.
Choose your starter
- Alaska sourdough starter: mild, almost sweet. A good choice if you don’t like very sour bread.
- British white sourdough starter: tangy, made for white bread and pizza.
- Gluten free sourdough starter: based on brown rice flour, for gluten-free bread.
Contents of the starter kit

What else you need
- Flour, water and salt. For the gluten-free starter: gluten-free flour.
- A kitchen scale.
- An oven, ideally with a cast-iron pot with a lid or a baking stone.
Ingredients and allergens
The ingredients and allergens differ per starter. You can find them on the page of each starter, linked above.
How to get started
- Wake up the dried starter in the glass jar, following the instructions that come with it. This takes a few days of feeding.
- After each feeding, slide the time-tracking band to the level of the starter. Once it reliably doubles, it is ready to bake with.
- Mix, shape and proof your dough with the tools in the kit, score it with the blade and bake. The guide in the box takes you through each step.
Online introduction to fermentation
Like yoghurt, sauerkraut and kombucha, sourdough is made by fermentation. In our online introduction to fermentation, you will learn which microbes do the work and how to steer them.
